Necky Kayaks Chatham 17 will fit a larger size range of paddler than the Chatham 16 and has a slightly faster cruising speed. Inspired by British sea kayak designs the Chatham 17 offers superb handling and maneuverability in rough waters and windy conditions. A popular choice for intermediate & advanced paddlers whilst more novice paddlers will find this a superb kayak to develop their sea legs with.
The outfitting of the Chatham 17 is outstanding, the back band adjusts easily, thigh braces can be fully adjusted, a padded seat and easy to adjust foot braces provide a snug, comfortable customised fit. The cockpit outfitting of the Chatham kayak also makes rolling easy. The outfitting on the deck is on a par with all other sea kayak manufacturers and comes with 2 large oval storage hatches and a round day hatch.
The Necky Chatham 17's longer length, sleeker bow and stern lines and less rocker provide greater hull speed than the shorter Chatham 16 but the Chatham 17 still retains enough rocker to be responsive when you need it to be. With the skeg up and a solid edge the Chatham 17 turns how you want it to.
