Hobie Inflatable Mirage Drive The Hobie Inflatable Range are very similar to the Rigid sit on kayaks but because they are inflatable they can be a much easier way to get on the water fast. The range are ideal for people who want the high standards of a Hobie Kayak but need some flexability. Putting the kayak away is extremely easy once deflated the Hobie Inflatable fits neatly into its bag so if storage is minimal this isn't a problem. Transportation is a breeze too no need for a roof rack and the bag even has wheels to move the Hobie from the house to the car. Powered by MirageDrive™ that lets kayakers pedal, leaving their hands virtually free for other activities like fishing, taking photos, bird watching, or just plain having fun. The boats can also be paddled or sailed to suit your preference. Each boat inflates and deflates quickly and comes standard with a rolling travel bag. All three Hobie Inflatables are within allowable dimensions for air travel with a surcharge for extra weight. The hulls are constructed of durable 1000-Denier PVC with a drop stitch floor. Each boat has three inflation chambers with one-way valves. Wear-guard material protects the bow, stern, and hull centerline. The cockpits are self-draining with dual scuppers. All three models feature the patent-pending, kick-up Twist and Stow rudder that can be lifted and turned to lay flat on deck when not in use, whether in the water, on top of the car, or in the rolling travel bag. The defining feature on the inflatables is Hobie’s patented MirageDrive™. Two pedals are connected to two underwater flippers, much like penguin wings; and are locked and unlocked from the kayak with the new Click and Go system. Kayakers will enjoy the fact that they can propel themselves faster using the pedals rather than a traditional paddle. (The tandem comes with two MirageDrives for increased speed and fun.) Steering is controlled via the left side, fingertip-controlled Twist and Stow rudder system. The rudder can be rotated out of the way in very shallow water and for transport or storage. Rudder steering lines are made from Spectra, the world’s strongest fibre, up to 15 times stronger than quality steel of the same size.
